On October 12, the 2026 Paris Motor Show officially opened, where XPENG announced the global launch of its next-generation AI flagship SUV, the XPENG G9L. European orders opened simultaneously, with pricing in France starting from €74,990.
At this year’s show, XPENG and Tesla were selected as the two participants in the official Autonomous Lab public intelligent-driving experience. Both companies demonstrated advanced assisted-driving technologies on public roads in Paris.
The event also marked the first large-scale public demonstration of XPENG’s Turing AI driving system in Europe. Before the experience program officially began, more than 400 media organizations worldwide had reportedly registered to participate.

XPENG Deepens Its European Expansion
While continuing to expand its global product portfolio, XPENG is strengthening its European presence through localized R&D, manufacturing and industrial partnerships.
In the first half of 2026, XPENG ranked first in France among Chinese emerging pure-electric vehicle brands by sales.
The XPENG MONA L03, globally launched in Munich in July, also secured more than 10,000 European orders within three months.
On the R&D side, XPENG’s European research center is responsible for adapting products to local user habits and road environments. Its work includes:
- Regulatory certification
- Local-language interaction
- Chassis tuning
- Charging and energy network integration
- Intelligent driving testing
Localized Production in Europe
XPENG began local production at Magna’s plant in Graz, Austria, in the third quarter of 2025.
The G9L is the fourth XPENG model to enter European production and will be manufactured simultaneously in Guangzhou, China, and Graz, Austria.
This dual-production strategy is intended to improve supply flexibility and strengthen the company’s ability to serve European customers.
Building a Global Technology Ecosystem
XPENG has established partnerships with a number of European suppliers and technology companies, including Bosch and Dassault Systèmes.
During the Paris Motor Show, XPENG also signed a strategic framework agreement with Michelin.
The company has previously developed deeper technical cooperation with Volkswagen Group, expanding from electronic and electrical architecture into complete vehicle co-development.
At the show, XPENG also launched XPENG AI ENGINEERING, an open technology platform designed for global new energy vehicle partners.
The platform provides:
- Complete vehicle platforms
- Modular technologies
- Engineering toolchains
- R&D solutions
- Manufacturing support
- After-sales technical solutions
XPENG is also opening parts of its physical AI ecosystem to external partners, including Robotaxi technology, Turing AI chips and physical-world foundation models. The company is currently discussing Robotaxi deployment with leading European mobility platforms.

Built as a Global Flagship SUV
The XPENG G9L was developed from the beginning as a global vehicle.
After three years of development, the model completed a total of 6.74 million kilometers of road testing across 26 countries and regions.
The SUV measures more than 5.1 meters in length and has a 3.1-meter wheelbase, positioning it firmly in the large premium SUV segment.
Comfort features include an AI-adaptive driver’s seat and an AI-adaptive zero-gravity front passenger seat, both designed to automatically accommodate different body types and seating positions.
The cabin also offers:
- Child-friendly low-emission interior materials
- RNC active noise cancellation
- Multiple acoustic insulation measures
- 12.5-liter dual-door, dual-temperature refrigerator
- 21.4-inch 3K rear entertainment screen
- 23-speaker audio system
Advanced Chassis and Strong Performance
The G9L uses an all-aluminum suspension architecture, dual-chamber air suspension and DCC adaptive dampers.
Key performance figures include:
- Maximum ground clearance: 216 mm
- Wading depth: 700 mm
- Turning radius: 5.5 meters
- 0–100 km/h acceleration: 4.9 seconds
- 100–0 km/h braking distance: 35.1 meters
An active rear-wheel steering system helps improve maneuverability despite the vehicle’s large dimensions.
800V Platform and 5C Ultra-Fast Charging
The G9L is built on an 800V high-voltage platform and supports 5C ultra-fast charging.
According to XPENG, charging from 10% to 80% can take as little as 11.7 minutes under suitable conditions.
The vehicle also supports 6 kW V2L external power output, expanding its usefulness for camping and other outdoor activities.
Localized Smart Ecosystem for Europe
For European users, the XPENG G9L deeply integrates local digital services including Google Maps and Google Play.
More than 500 native applications are supported, helping the vehicle deliver a more familiar intelligent ecosystem for local customers.
Global Safety Standards
The G9L was engineered with reference to four major global safety assessment systems.
During development, the vehicle completed 192 crash tests.
Its body structure uses front and rear mega-castings produced with a 16,000-ton integrated die-casting process, while up to 10 airbags are available.
Battery safety is further reinforced by an EIS battery safety chip.
On the active safety side, the vehicle’s AEB automatic emergency braking system can operate at speeds of up to 150 km/h. Driver incapacitation assistance is also included to improve protection in emergency situations.
Advancing Intelligent Driving in Europe
XPENG continues to validate the global adaptability of its second-generation VLA intelligent driving system.
In July, XPENG NGP completed localized acceptance testing in Germany. In September, the system underwent road testing in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
From Germany and the Netherlands to France, the company is steadily expanding intelligent-driving validation across European markets.
XPENG Takes a Larger Role in Global Autonomous Driving Standards
In addition to product development, XPENG is participating more deeply in the formulation of international autonomous driving regulations.
The company was recently elected Secretary-General of the newly established Task Force on Exchange of Scenario-Related Information (TF-ESRI) under the UNECE Working Party on Automated/Autonomous and Connected Vehicles, or GRVA.
XPENG is the first Chinese automaker to hold such a secretariat role within a core UNECE autonomous-driving regulatory framework.
The company is also actively pursuing European market-access certification, aiming to become one of the first automakers globally to obtain relevant approvals.

A New Step in XPENG’s Global Strategy
The global launch of the G9L represents another major step in XPENG’s international expansion.
By combining localized European R&D and manufacturing with AI-powered intelligent driving, fast-charging technology, advanced chassis systems and a growing global partnership ecosystem, XPENG is positioning the G9L as a key flagship product for its next stage of overseas growth.
